Biography
Maria Thompson is Senior Partner at ABL Finance, leading the Trade Finance and SBLC practice. Over a 20+ year career across London, Geneva and Dubai, Maria has structured and facilitated multi-billion-dollar transactions involving SBLCs, Bank Guarantees, Letters of Credit and structured trade-finance products for corporate, project and sovereign clients.
Her work focuses on cross-border transactions where complex risk allocation, multiple jurisdictions and stringent compliance requirements come into play. Maria is a regular speaker at trade-finance industry events and contributes to ABL Finance Insights on topics including SBLC monetization, instrument fraud prevention and the evolving ICC rulebook.
Maria works directly with clients from initial consultation through to instrument delivery, and is the editorial reviewer for ABL Finance’s most technical content.
